FAQ

Questions, answered plainly.

Data protection, confidentiality, how we price work, and the limits of AI - explained without jargon.

How do you handle data protection?

Before anything is built, we agree in writing what information the assistants can use, where it's stored and how long it's kept. We act as your data processor under a written agreement, in line with Isle of Man data protection law, and the assistants only get the access they need.

What about client confidentiality?

Confidential material stays inside the systems we agree. Nothing is shared or published without your approval, and we're happy to sign a confidentiality agreement. For law firms, the assistants support your existing confidentiality and professional duties. They don't change them.

What can't the assistants do?

They don't give legal, medical or financial advice. They don't make decisions that need professional judgement, and they don't sign anything on your behalf. AI can make mistakes, so anything client-facing or important is checked by a person first.

Will this replace my staff?

No. The aim is to take repetitive work off their plate so they can spend more time on the parts that need a person - improving company and employee efficiency by removing frustrating tasks.

Do I need new software?

Usually not. We build around your current email, documents and software wherever we can.

How much does it cost?

We don't put prices on the website. After a free 30-minute call, the next step is a discovery day: we come to your company, meet the relevant teams and members that would benefit from AI automation, then set a plan of action depending on the size. From that day we write a proposal with a quote for build, support, and a review. Every quote is for your firm.

Which AI services do you use?

We choose established providers to suit each job, and your proposal lists them, along with where your information is processed. If you have preferences or restrictions, we'll work within them.

Can I get funding?

Isle of Man businesses may be eligible to claim 50% of consultancy fees, up to £7,500, through the Department for Enterprise Business Consultancy Scheme. The Department decides, so it isn't guaranteed. We'll provide the written quote you need for an application.

What if I want to stop?

Support arrangements and notice periods are set out in your proposal. When we finish, your information is returned to you or deleted, whichever you prefer, and access is removed.

Do you only work on the Isle of Man?

Ellan Systems is set up for Manx businesses. Our Manx roots and name are a reminder that this is a local service for local businesses, with someone you can actually meet. We're happy to talk if you're elsewhere, but the island comes first.
